The drug epidemic in New Hampshire is a Wolfeboro problem too. Our very own high school, Kingswood Regional High School, is known as “Kingsweed”.According to the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), in 2011, only 6% of the Seniors smoked marijuana before age 13, but 20% of the incoming Freshman smoked marijuana before age 13. A 300% increase in marijuana use before age 13! Now it may be even higher than 20% – but without an updated study, we don’t know for sure. This problem is certainly growing as neighboring states have legalized recreational marijuana. What can parents do to know how well our schools are doing to reduce drug abuse in our children?
